Utah Fire was started by 21 year old Larry Mamey in 1978. With little more than his beat up truck and determination, Larry managed to build a thriving business that would eventually protect not only the state’s capital city but also the surrounding areas. By establishing itself as a respected name in fire protection both with suppliers and local businesses, Utah Fire was able to remain steady in spite of economic recession and fierce competition.
From the beginning, Larry’s success was the result of constant door-knocking and cold calling. Through his tireless efforts, Larry was able to find new customers and create the interest he needed to grow without a sales team. When he hired more technicians, Larry challenged them to build their own routes the same way. Thus, the business was able to reach more of the community and expand quickly, resulting in the large and loyal customer base Utah Fire has today. Whether servicing a small business or a large industrial center, the community knows they can count on Larry and his team to take care of their fire protection needs.
With this acquisition, Pye-Barker enters a new market already established as an industry leader thanks to Utah Fire’s strong reputation. The branches will continue to offer Utah Fire’s full ranges of services, including the installation, inspection, and sale of fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems, and emergency lighting. Additional services, including the inspection and sale of fire sprinkler systems and backflows, will be added as Pye-Barker continues to grow in this region.
This exciting addition helps to further establish Pye-Barker as a competitive fire protection option for the West and Central states. The PBFS team looks forward to further learning and expanding in this new market, with the help of Larry and his capable staff. Welcome to the Pye-Barker family, Utah Fire!
