PBFS Austin has multiple openings for fire alarm repair technicians.

Specific Job Requirements:

  • Must have a current Fire Alarm (FAL) license from the State of Texas Fire Marshal. Any other license from the State of Texas Fire Marshal is a plus.
  • Prefer background / experience as an electrician.
  • Significant knowledge and experience independently troubleshooting and repairing fire alarm system faults such as ground faults, underground fire alarm wiring, open notification appliance circuits (NAC), invalid reply, and short circuits on the signaling line circuit (SLC) loop.
  • Significant knowledge and experience independently troubleshooting, repairing, and installing a variety of fire alarm panels and devices from manufacturers such as Silent Knight, Firelite, ADEMCO, Potter, FCI, EST, Vigilant, Secutron, and Mircom.
  • Significant knowledge and experience independently programming a variety of fire alarm panels from manufacturers such as Silent Knight, Firelite, ADEMCO, Potter, FCI, EST, Vigilant, Secutron, and Mircom.
  • Significant knowledge and experience independently troubleshooting, repairing, and installing wireless devices including wireless dialers.

Austin-North, TX - Fire Sprinkler Repair Technician

PBFS Austin has openings for two fire sprinkler repair technicians.

Specific Job Description: Applicants must be knowledgeable and experienced in the installation, service, modification, and repair of:

  • Wet fire sprinkler systems including the associated pipe, fittings, valves, and sprinkler heads
  • Dry fire sprinkler systems including the associated pipe, fittings, valves, and sprinkler heads
  • OS&Y valves including the installation of a repacking kit
  • Metal and plastic (such as PVC and CPVC) pipe
  • Air compressors and associated controls
  • Fire pumps and associated controls
  • Anti-freeze loops
  • Pre-action systems
Must be able to read fire sprinkler installation plans.  Any license from the State of Texas Fire Marshal is a plus.

General Requirements:

PBFS Austin has an immediate opening for a Kitchen Hood Suppression Installation Technician. Specific Job Requirements:
  • Must have a current Portable Fire Extinguishers (FEL-B) and Kitchen Cooking Systems (FEL-K) license from the State of Texas Fire Marshal. Any other license from the State of Texas Fire Marshal is a plus.
  • Able to independently complete the inspection of 5 to 7 Ansul, Amerex, Badger, Kidde, and/or Buckeye kitchen cooking systems (“hood”) per 8-hour workday according to manufacturer specifications and per all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Able to independently complete the installation of an Ansul R-102 or Amerex KP 3-gallon kitchen hood system in less than 8 hours according to manufacturer specifications and per all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Dallas, TX - Fire Alarm Lead Inspector

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the inspection and testing of life safety equipment in the facilities that Mitec serves. You will be working closely with the facility personnel for a smooth inspection with minimal disruption to the tenants. Duties will include helping with scheduling inspections with the proper contact for each property and working closely with the Inspection Coordinator. Also, they will need to assist in creating building account information for new accounts and generating the proper paperwork (Fire Alarm Inspection Reports, and Inspection Certificates etc.) for the pending inspections. The Lead Inspector would be responsible for any Inspectors working under their supervision and any tools or equipment assigned to them.

Qualifications:

  • State of Texas Fire Alarm License Required (FAL).
  • Must have at least three + years of experience in the Fire Alarm industry. Some management experience is preferred.
  • A College Degree is preferred; however, a High School diploma or equivalent is required along with adequate experience.
  • Must possess strong Customer Service and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able and willing to work within a team environment.
  • Must be flexible with scheduling requirements that occasionally require evening, after-hours, weekend, or out-of-town inspections.
  • Need good networking PC skills including use of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Palm OS.
  • Proficiency using test equipment to include: sensitivity test equipment, multi-meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters and communication devices.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record that meets Mitec’s insurance company requirements
  • Being on time is critical due to the need to perform sound tests prior to building tenant arrivals.
  • Must be able to regularly climb a six-foot and on occasion taller ladder.
  • Able to lift equipment and tools up to 40lbs. and ability to climb ladders, use lifts and scaffolding to include performing work in unusual and sometimes difficult locations such as ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc
  • Must have a professional appearance, attitude, and ability to communicate with customers at all levels.

Qualified individuals will be expected to initiate and complete projects independently according to assigned schedules and be able to certify projects in the presence of general contractors and local officials. Familiarity with fire alarm systems and related components is expected. Position would include pulling wire, mounting panels, power supplies, devices and related components for the fire alarm system being installed with a strong focus on exceptional quality and workmanship.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in installing fire alarm equipment.
  • Candidates with a commercial electrical background are preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organization, customer service skills and high energy level are required.
  • Texas FA license a plus.
