PBFS Greensboro has an immediate opening for a fire alarm technician to join their hard-working team.  Fire alarm technicians work in the field, running an assigned route and servicing fire alarm systems on site.  The Greensboro team has grown quickly and is known around the community for their friendly service and local support.

Successful candidates will:

  • Have fire alarm experience, specifically with the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems
  • Be familiar with the common fire alarm systems/equipment, including those made by Simplex, Notifier by Honeywell, Silent Knight, etc.
  • Experience installing fire alarm systems is a significant plus, but not required
  • Any applicable licenses/certifications are also advantages but not required

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for servicing and repairing all makes of Life Safety Fire Alarm systems with a primary focus on Notifier, FCI, Siemens, Simplex, and EST equipment.

Qualifications:

Applicants shall have 5-7 years’ of industry experience with a majority of the time spent servicing fire alarm systems. Experience in access control, video, and intrusion systems a plus but not required. Applicant shall also have good computer knowledge and excellent communication / customer service skills. NICET I is required but level II preferred. NC Low Voltage License a plus.

Charlotte, NC - Senior Security Field Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Accept and complete all service calls directed to you in a timely manner.
  • Send-in all work and travel times along with detail of work completed (within one hour of completion) at the end of each service call or quote request. Provide a clear & concise record of all work performed.
  • Communicate all work done, or to be done, to the customer in a professional manner. This would be the contact provided on the SR. Review with the customer all of the services we can provide for them.
  • Review all service requests and quote requests assigned to you on a daily basis and provide updates to the coordinators with respect to your schedule.
  • Set-up a schedule for your daily calls and communicate this to your coordinator and supervisor on a daily basis. This should be done in a manner to optimize your time and complete as many calls as possible.
  • Provide an “in-progress” notification to your assigned Coordinator each day upon arrival to the customer’s site.
  • Follow up on ALL parts orders you have generated and keep the customer informed. This means calling the customer and keeping them in the loop. This needs to be documented in the communication records of Service Requests by way of journal entries into Outlook. Help expedite all orders over 72 hours old.
  • Develop and maintain a strong sense of urgency in closing out all service calls/ quote requests by reviewing all assigned calls daily and prioritizing with the Control Center to ensure quick closure and high level of customer service.
  • Assist with system installations as directed by the Control Center and/or Manager. This may include pulling & strapping wire, rough-in work and device installation. Assist Integrated Systems with programming new system installations. Facilitate customer systems training as directed
  • Obtain Customer Satisfaction, Training sign-offs and other documentation required to close-out projects according to project management standards or as directed by manager.
  • Facilitate SecurityScan inspections by providing assistance with access control, intrusion and video systems inspections as assigned.
  • Provide back-up of all customers’ systems programs and databases to Mitec repository within 48 hours of customer site visits.
  • Maintain all current certifications and keep up with all CEU’s required for those certifications.
  • Obtain new factory and industry related certifications as directed by Mitec.
  • Help the sales division with surveying systems when requested by manager.
  • Carry out other duties as directed by Mitec Management.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Two year associate degree in electrical/electronics or an electrical apprenticeship program or five (5) years experience in the security industry
  • Advanced working knowledge of computer systems, LAN/WAN, Microsoft operating systems and databases (MS SQL, MS ACCESS, etc.) ARE A MUST
  • Demonstrated knowledge of national electrical codes and applicable standards relative to low-voltage work in general, in addition to the Integrated Security and video systems business.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Must hold a valid Driver’s License and maintain a satisfactory MVR report.

Additional Information/Qualifications:

  • Overtime (including nights, weekends and holiday) will occasionally be required as business dictates, along with the need for occasional travel outside of the metropolitan area to facilitate customer needs.
  • Participation in the “on-call” rotation as established by manager is required.
  • Must be able to regularly carry and use a six-foot or on occasion taller ladder.
  • Able to lift equipment and tools up to 40lbs. along with the ability to climb ladders, use lifts and scaffolding while performing work in unusual and sometimes difficult locations, which may include ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.

Job Description

Fire sprinkler service technicians must have vast knowledge of different systems and be able to perform service work as well as installation and modifications of new and existing systems. Must be able to demonstrate proper techniques for draining down systems working on fire pumps and be able to make repairs. We are looking for a candidate who takes initiative and is a problem-solver. This position will be expected to be run emergency service calls which may occur outside of normal work hours and may result in overtime work.

Requirements:
